IELTS Speaking Part 2&3 Questions (Jan-Apr 2025)

雅思口試 本季最新Part 2 & 3題目 (2025年1月至4月)

Bộ đề dự đoán IELTS Speaking Quý 1 (T1 – 04/2025)

Part 2

Describe a friend you like to talk with. You should say: ➨ Who he/she is ➨ What you like to talk about ➨ Why you like to talk with him/her And explain how you feel about him/her

One friend I really enjoy chatting with is Mark. We’ve known each other since primary school and we immediately clicked due to our shared passion for technology and gaming. We’ve been meeting up occasionally for gaming sessions even since.

Whenever we hang out, we always end up talking about the latest gadgets and the hottest video games out there. What I particularly like about our conversations is Mark’s enthusiasm and depth of knowledge. He’s not just well-informed, but also a fantastic listener. Plus, he has this clever sense of humor that makes every discussion a lot of fun!

Mark is also super easy-going, which means we can talk about pretty much anything. Sometimes, we have heart-to-heart talks about our personal livessharing our dreams, fears, and challenges. This level of openness has created a strong bond, allowing us to support each other through life’s ups and downs.

Sometimes, I regret not reaching out more often when life got busy. I can’t help but think that if I had prioritized it more, we could have been even closer!

In the coming years, I hope that we will be meeting up more often for deep talks, no matter how busy we might get. Friendships like ours are too valuable to let slip away!

Part 3

1. Where do young people like to meet?

→ Young people often seek out meeting spots that are fun and full of energy. One favorite spot for gathering is cafes, where the laid-back atmosphere is perfect for friends to unwind and catch up over a delicious cup of coffee. It’s not just about the drinks; many cafes also offer cozy seating and free Wi-Fi, making them ideal for studying or just hanging out.

→ Shopping malls are another hotspot for socializing. They’re not just about shopping, they offer a plethora of activities to keep friends entertained. from grabbing a bite to eat at a food court to watching a movie. This blend of shopping, dining, and entertainment makes malls a favored meeting spot for young people looking to have a good time together.

2. What makes a good listener?

→ An effective listener has a few qualities that really make a difference. One of the most important is the ability to give their full attention to the person speaking. For instance, when a friend is sharing a personal story, a good listener will make sure to maintain eye contact and put away distractions, like their phone. This shows that they genuinely care about what the other person is saying.

→ One key quality of a good listener is empathy. It really helps them connect with the speaker’s emotions. For example, if a friend is sharing a tough situation, a compassionate listener might say something like, "Wow, that sounds really tough." Just that simple acknowledgment can go a long way in providing comfort and reassurance.

3. On what occasions do people talk with strangers?

→ There are plenty of situations where we end up chatting with unfamiliar faces, and it can actually be quite interesting!  One common scenario is in classes. For example, when you're working on a group project at school, you might find yourself paired up with classmates you’ve never met before. It’s fascinating how a shared goal can break the ice and sometimes you end up making some new friends in the process!

→ There are many instances when we might start having a conversation with those we don’t know, and one prime example is on social media, where it’s full of opportunities for strangers to cross paths and strike up a conversation. For instance, you might comment on some posts about a trending topic, and suddenly you’re chatting with someone from halfway across the world!

4 Do you think people should be honest when talking with friends?

→In my opinion, being straightforward with friends is essential for maintaining healthy relationships. Honesty encourages open communication, allowing friends to understand each other better. For instance, when friends are open with each other, it reduces misunderstandings, ensuring that both parties are on the same page regarding their feelings and expectations.

→ While we often hear that honesty is very important, there are definitely times when being too blunt just isn’t the way to go. For example, if a friend asks for your opinion on a new hairstyle that they’re excited about, telling them it looks awful could hurt their feelings unnecessarily. Instead, a more gentle approach—like saying, “It’s definitely a bold choice!” This way, you keep their excitement alive without being too harsh. Sometimes, holding back on the brutal truth can actually be better for the friendship in the long run.

5. What do young people talk about when they meet up?

→ Young people often chat about all sorts of things, and one topic that comes up a lot is social media, in which they discuss viral trends, memes, or influencers. For instance, you might hear them laughing about a new dance challenge that everyone seems to be doing on TikTok. Another example is when they talk about a popular meme that’s making the rounds. It’s like a shared language that brings them closer together!

→ When young people come together, their discussions often cover a range of topics, and one big topic is relationships. For instance, when someone starts dating someone new, they can’t wait to share all the juicy details. They might talk about their first dates, describing everything from the venue to the little moments that sparked chemistry between them, or even rehearse what they plan to say on their next date.

6. What are the differences between talking to a friend and talking to a stranger?

→ The dynamics of conversations with friends versus strangers can vary greatly, especially in the tone and style of communication. With friends, they are usually pretty casual. We toss around slangs, use nicknames, and even engage in playful teasing—sometimes with a bit of profanity thrown in for fun! But when we’re chatting with strangers, the tone shifts to something more formal and polite. This helps prevent misunderstandings and keeps things respectful, which is important for making a good impression.

→ The body language we use when chatting with close friends is pretty different from how we interact with someone we don’t know. With friends, it’s all about those fun gestures—like high-fives, hugs, or even playful nudges. These little actions really show how comfortable and close we are. But when we’re talking to new acquaintances, we usually keep a polite distance and stick to more formal gestures, like handshakes. It’s interesting how our body language changes based on who we’re with!
