IELTS Speaking Part 2&3 Questions (Jan-Apr 2025)

雅思口試 本季最新Part 2 & 3題目 (2025年1月至4月)

Bộ đề dự đoán IELTS Speaking Quý 1 (T1 – 04/2025)

A2. A Popular Person

Part 2

Describe a popular/well-known person in your country. You should say:

➨ Who this person is

➨ What he/she has done

➨ Why he/she is popular

And explain how you feel about this person

When we talk about well-liked public figures in (Vietnam), (Mary) is a name that truly stands out. She is not only a talented actress but also a gifted pop singer, and she has been a household name in the nation for decades.

She first rose to fame through her leading role in a blockbuster film. Soon after, she ventured into music, releasing a debut album that received rave reviews and commercial success. Many of her singles topped the charts, and her catchy melodies, combined with relatable lyrics, resonated with fans of all ages. It’s no wonder she has garnered such a massive following! She also has this excellent sense of humor that truly lights up any room. Whether she’s on stage, in interviews, or interacting with fans, her wit and charm shine through.

What I admire most is her compassionate nature. She believes in giving back to the community, and she regularly donates a portion of her earnings to various charities. Whether it’s supporting education for underprivileged children or contributing to health initiatives, her dedication to helping those in need is genuinely inspiring.  And it shows that she genuinely cares about making a difference in people’s lives.

If I ever had the chance to meet her, I would definitely take a selfie with her and ask for an autograph! It would be such a memorable experience to meet someone I admire so much.

Looking ahead, I hope that (Mary) will continue to shine in her career. By the time she retires, I believe she will have built a legacy that not only entertains but also inspires future generations of artists in both film and music.

Part 3

1. What benefits are there when a child is popular at school?

→ There are definitely some advantages . For one, kids who are well-liked often have a solid support system of friends, which provides emotional security and boosts their confidence. For instance, a popular child might feel more comfortable speaking up in class, knowing they have friends cheering them on.

→ One positive aspect of being popular is fostering a positive self-image. When kids get affirmation from their peers, it can do wonders for their self-esteem. For example, think about a child who is always included in group activities. That sense of belonging can make them feel valued and accepted.

2. Are there any disadvantages if a child is popular at school?

→ Popularity in school can come with its own set of challenges.  For one, kids who are well-liked might feel pressure to maintain their social status, which can be stressful. For instance, they might constantly worry about fitting in or pleasing their peers, which can lead to anxiety and self-doubt.

→ One drawback of being popular as a kid is that it can actually make you a target for jealousy or bullying. When someone stands out, it can draw negative attention from other kids who feel threatened. For example, a popular kid might end up being gossiped about or even excluded from certain groups, which can be emotionally damaging.

3. Do you think popular children will grow up to be popular adults?

→ Absolutely! Many popular kids pick up strong social skills early on and they often have this natural charisma that draws people in,  which can help them maintain their popularity into adulthood. For instance, think about someone who was the life of the party in high school. They probably learned how to connect with people with different personalities and backgrounds.

→ Not necessarily. Some people manage to keep that social status into their adulthood, while others might realize that other qualities like kindness, reliability, and empathy matter way more as they grow up. Take two high school friends: one who was popular but relied on superficial charm, and another who was quieter but built strong, lasting relationships; the latter may end up with a better supportive network in adulthood.

4. What kinds of people are popular at work?

→ You know, colleagues who are helpful and approachable really tend to be the most popular at work. People appreciate when someone is ready to lend a hand or share their expertise. For example, if there's someone who takes the time to mentor new hires, they can quickly become a beloved figure in the office. Everyone loves having that go-to person who makes things easier!

→ One common trait of well-liked employees is definitely their sense of humor. People who can lighten the mood with a well-timed joke often become favorites among their coworkers. Just think about it—someone who can make light of stressful situations really helps create a more relaxed environment. It’s nice to have those people around who can bring a smile to your face, right?

5. Which one is more important, maintaining a good relationship with colleagues or doing well at work?

→When it comes to the workplace, I really believe that performing well is the most siginificant factor. Sure, having good relationships with colleagues can be beneficial, but at the end of the day, it’s your job performance that truly matters. For example, if you’re the person who consistently meets deadlines and exceeds expectations, you’re more likely to be seen as an asset to the company, no matter how many colleagues might dislike you. On the flip side, someone who is a real social butterfly but fails to deliver results may not last very long in their position. Ultimately, it’s the quality of your work that keeps you in the game.

→ I really think that both building good connections and performing well at work are very crucial so it’s all about finding the right balance. On one hand, if you’re consistently delivering great results, you could find yourself in line for promotions or raises, and who doesn’t love that? On the other hand, having strong relationships at work can make a huge difference in how well everyone collaorates and gets things done, making teamwork so much smoother.  > But here’s the thing: if someone focuses solely on their own achievements and neglects those relationships, they might end up feeling pretty isolated. So, it’s vital to find that sweet spot between doing your job well and building those connections.

6. Are bosses more popular than employees at work?

→ The popularity of employers compared to employees can really vary based on several factors. If a manager is supportive and approachable, they’re likely to be well-liked and admired by their team. For instance, a boss who takes the time to listen to employees and offers help when needed can create a friendly atmosphere. On the flip side, if a manager comes across as overly authoritative or detached, it can create a significant rift. Imagine a boss who constantly scolds team members in a grumpy tone or talks down to them—it's hard to earn genuine respect that way.

→  I actually see it quite differently—I rarely find that managers are more well-liked than their employees. One big reason for this is the different roles that they play, which can create a natural barrier. Bosses are often the ones making tough decisions, setting goals, and evaluating performance, and that authority can feel pretty distant to the team.  That’s why, it can be tough for employees to view their boss as a peer or even a friend. Instead, they might see them more as someone who’s in charge, which can make it hard to build that personal connection. It’s like having a teacher in school—while you respect them, it’s not always easy to relate to them on the same level as your classmates.
